Summary: Probably pine

There were both oak and pine around, but many of the dead pine trees have been cut down and cleared out so there are bits and pieces of them all over. It grew attached to the pieces of wood and was just resting on the ground.

Summary: Based on only the pores:

If it was on the ground, attached to a root, it could be Abortiporus biennis. If it was on conifer wood, especially Pine, it could be Porodaedalea pini.
