Summary: illustration

Thanks, Nathan, for all your help with identifications, and for the compliment about my drawing. As I’m sure you can tell I’m just learning about mushrooms. I’m only just beginning to draw them, and hoping to paint them, too, someday soon!

Summary: Nice illustration!

Have you done many mushroom illustrations?

Summary: X. dryophilus seems likely

The new photos look a lot like Xerocomus dryophilus to me. If they stipes have a pinched based I would be confident in that id. I’m not confident that the first photo is of the same species. I have seen different species of Xerocomus growing together. None of them look like Boletus regius to me. It’s generally larger with tighter pores.

Summary: Xerocomus subtomentosus?

Also known as Boletus subtomentosus. The shape is a bit odd, but the rest of the features look right to me.
