do you believe these were dried out? Certainly they would have dried quickly this year. But degrading wood holds water very well, which is why it is possible to wring water out of well-degraded wood.

Why do you think it is “bad”? Are the colors true? Was the general color white, red, yellow, scarlet or some other color?

and it seems to me that several obs. do not look yellow at all.

I didnt realize this obs would generate any interest or I wouldve recorded some features for you. I added a bad photo that might have some taxonomic value. The fruits were pretty small… certainly less than 2cm tall.

Arora in Mushrooms Demystified notes under Calocera viscosa, p. 675, that C. cornea is “smaller (up to 15 mm high), yellow, and clublike or very sparingly branched; it grows in groups or clusters on twigs and branches of both hardwoods and conifers.” This does not appear clustered, on twigs or branches, and definately is not yellow.

For neglecting to include habitat info. Well decayed hardwood.
