Notes: Found near a recent clearcut at mp 7.5-7.6 on Larch Mountain Road, elevation approximately 2400 feet. Habitat mostly Western hemlock in this area, but with large patches of old-growth Douglas-fir interspersed.

Summary: Very interesting specimens…

There could be two different taxa here (based on cap color…which is not always a good way of differentiating species), but I think there is a good chance that neither is A. pachycolea. The problem is the unknown number of taxa of sect. Vaginatae that are undescribed. My guess (based on experience) is that the number is rather large in all parts of North America…and most of the rest of the world as well. R
