Summary: I don’t have the answers to your questions

I scoped this 4 years ago and then tossed the mushroom. I don’t remember what I mounted it in and there aren’t any pictures.

Summary: Were the spores dextrinoid?

This is an extremely interesting observation. Were the spores verruculose or heavily warted? Did you mount them in koh?

Do you have a micrograph of the spore ornamentation?

Summary: Thanks for the spore report

I’ll remove my Pholiota suggestion then. The description ends up with Gymnopilus, but most of them are (extremely) bitter..

Summary: spores

Spores are 8 × 5 micrometers, orange, roughened, and elliptical, without a germ pore. I am pretty sure this is a Gymnopilus species, but which one could it be?

Doesn’t seem to have enough of an annulus for G. spectabilis and the stipe is too long for G. sapineus.

Summary: I’d guess Pholiota…

Need a spore print, there seems to be some brown on the fibrous veil. With the yellow gills, it looks like a Pholiota.

Summary: Guessing

that it’s brown-spored and a Pholiota, then possibly something in the alnicola group – at least Pholiota flavida has a mild taste.
