Public Description (default) [Edit]
When: 2008-10-17
Collection location: near Cape Lookout, Tillamook Co., Oregon, USA [Click for map]
Who: Daniel B. Wheeler (Tuberale)
No herbarium specimen

Notes: In Arora’s key, comes directly to this species, which should have a bulbous base. This does not. Therefore there is some question about the identifier or the key. Odor very nice, wanted to munch away. Abundant at this location, probably 50 or more mushrooms growing near but not directly under a Sitka spruce in a grassy area that gets mowed regularly. Cap fibrils distinctly pale yellow to my eye. Not staining or discoloring otherwise. Photo of base shows a scratch at the base, which shows barely any yellowing, cap flesh not staining yellow.

Summary: Agree.

I have destroyed A. summensis to reflect this. Until I actually found A. summensis, I didn’t understand.

Summary: A. silvicola

Looks like Agaricus silvicola, which is common under spruce. A. summensis is suppose to look like the prince, only paler. It has large spores for an Agaricus.
