Notes: This unusual species has a double annulus that sticks to the top of the volva (basal annulus). Sometimes it leaves scattered reminants on the stipe, but never a ring. Dr. Thiers described both parts of the annulus as derived from the universal veil tissue. These photographs show that sequence as it happens. Ref: Mycotaxon 15:155-166.
