Σημειώσεις: I rather think this specimen is very similar to “19954”. I was careful to provide as much information as possible as the previous example (19954)has been difficult to name. Debbie and Rod would you like to examine and see what you think. This specimen was about half a mile from the other specimen. The height of this specimen was aproxx 8"(10cm) & the cap which was “Goop” (thanks Rod) was about 9cm 0r 3.5" across. The thickness of the stipe was 2cm. There is a noticeable area on the stipe where the warty areas exist in comparison to the central part of the stipe. This may have some bearing on the type of species. There was another unusual observation. When I removed the specimen from its habitat, I caused an exodus of small very tiny black ants to erupt. With this happening they were emitting a very strong smell that I think is called Prussic acid which I also believe is extremely poisonous. (aqueous solution of hydrogen cyanide.) So obviously I only sniffed the blighter and definatly NO Tasties!!!
If you look closely at image 41379 you will see some little black spots. They were in fact the ants I have spoken about. (maybe an "Ant-oligist! can help out!) And again this was a single specimen growing from the leaf litter on the forest floor. I did have to clear away the base to fully expose the bulb.
