Notas: Found in very moist microhabitat in deep shady gorge along Fields Creek, on mossy log. This is damp, when dry it turns a distinctive medium gray. The apothecia are borne on the undersurface of lobe tips as in all Nephroma and are remarkably variable in size. This and a number of related species are prone to becoming somewhat lobulate as this specimen is. It is distinguished easily from other species by the presence of conspicuous raised to sunken white bumps on the undersurface (not shown in this photo). It is also minutely fuzzy on the upper surface (more apparent when dry).
