If it is the Eastern Destroying Angel, the new name for most of them in Vermont is now bisporigera. The rarely collected “North” Eastern Destroying Angel, Amanita magnivelaris, has not been lumped under bisporigera. Details on that species here: http://pluto.njcc.com/~ret/amanita/species/magnivel.html
  Amanita virosa   77% (5)
Recognized by sight: I’m going to disagree with A. bisporigera… This has warts on the cap and stipe base is staining pinkish
  Herbert Baker   83% (1)   Eyes3
Recognized by sight: pallid form

Summary: nice call, Noah! I saw that pink color in the gills, but dismissed it as an artifact…

when I zoom I can see what you are calling warts, too. I’ve never seen a “rubescens alba”…but maybe now I have.
