Notes: Growing on branch (approximately 5-6 inches diameter) with bark attached of an oak tree that had been cut approximately 1 year earlier, in open, predominantly deciduous woods at on south-facing, dry slope to ridge above small year-round creek.

Bracket fungus, ca 2-2.5 cm across. Caps rough with crevices, dull orange. Undersurface bright reddish orange, with 2-4 angular (pores per mm) and a few slot-like pores, occasionally extending onto the substrate below the cap; tubes ca. 5 mm deep; stem absent; flesh tough, reddish to pale orange. Growing around grass/twigs. No distinct odor.
