Why do Lodge et al. not address/recognize the earlier transfer of P. calyptriformis to Humidicutis, by Vizzini and Ercole ?

“The type species of Porpolomopsis (Hygrocybe calyptriformis) has never been placed in Humidicutis but was thought to belong to Hygrocybe in branch E because it’s conical pileus with a splitting margin resembles that of Hygrocybe conica (the type species of Hygrocybe). H./P. calyptriformis would need to be transferred to Humidicutis in order to recognize the entire branch I as a single genus.”

Lodge, D. Jean, and Andrus Voitk. “The birth and fate of new generic names.” (2014): 8-12. https://www.fs.fed.us/...

and it’s two years later and Vizzini and Ercole are authors on it too. It looks like IF, MO, and I have been wrong for a few months at least. MO and I are fixed.

Humidicutis calyptriformis in Vizzini A. & Ercole E., 2011: Some considerations on the genus Hygrocybe sl: the newgenus Dermolomopsis and new combinations in Chromosera. Micol. Veg. Medit. 26(1): 100

Then back to Porpolomopsis calyptriformis in Lodge et al. 2013: Molecular phylogeny, morphology, pigment chemistry and ecology in Hygrophoraceae (Agaricales). Fungal Diversity.

So it looks like it should be Porpolomopsis calyptriformis.

I’m gonna look at the Lodge paper and see if they assert an opinion on it.

Why Porpolomopsis?

Has it been moved back there again, or is there something questionable about the recent project that put it in Humidicutis?
