I’m having a hard time convincing myself this is Hericium erinaceus . Found on the side of a busy rd, I had to hold up traffic to get the 3 unfocused pictures that I have :) In the field it reminded me nothing like Hericium erinaceus which I’ve identified and collected numerous times before. The surface appeared hairy and not like teeth. The colors are accurate in photo #2 which show reddish/yellow/brown shades. Initially I believed this was some sort of hairy inonotus until I got home and reviewed the photos.
