Identified based on odor and color. This keys out as I. pyriodora in Mushrooms Demystified which has been synonymized with I. fraudans according to Fungi of Switzerland Vol. 5.

Summary: Definitely Inocybe

They had the characteristic sweet Matsutake like odor. Interestingly Inocybes have a tendency to be a bit larger in southern California than in northern California.
