Bright orange Russula mushrooms with pale cream gills which ooze sticky, milky latex when damaged. I’ve heard that this mushroom is quite delicious—but it has yet to make it home to my table due to the absolutely horrible “dead fish” smell it puts out once it has been picked.
Growing out of thick mulch under hardwood trees in a dense mixed hardwood forest at the base of a high ridge.
