Kuo refers to this species, which does have a southern distribution including Florida, in his description of S. septentrionale, which has similar macro features as far as I can tell from your images. You can find this reference and description at http://www.mushroomexpert.com . There are also some good obs on MO to check out, including a couple from Florida. If you still have the specimen, a reddish-brown KOH reaction would be helpful for identification too.
