Species Lists:
Spring mushrooms of the Sierras (28)
Notes: This is a very very small sessile (no stipe (stem)) fungus that I found on a rotting log in the boggy area, also just under water. You have to look close to see the fungus, it is on the bottom side of the wood here, that I sliced off the rotting log, towards the left side. The fruiting body here it only large enough to have 4-5 gills.
Dr. Desjardin id’ed this as Arrhenia, and A. lobata was seen up there in the past, but not for a long time. Also the notes on A. lobata state that it should be seen in among mosses, and here it was on rotting wood. So, this might not be A. lobata, but another Arrhenia, but it matches the species in the other ways, just not the habitat notes.
