Summary: Amanita parcivolvata? Complexity of the __Amanita__ stirps __Hemibapha__ in the SE USA

I’m sorry to say that we don’t have all the pictures posted on the Amanita Studies site that relate to this topic. I need to do something about that. At any rate, there are several red and yellow taxa in Amanita stirps Hemibapha in the SE U.S. Only a dried specimen can really help, here. I would be very interested in photo’d and documented specimens in this group from anywhere in the U.S. Please dry very thoroughly and rather quickly (the tissues of the gills can’t be resuscitated if decay begins). Please contact before you ship. The support of MObs-tas would be very much appreciated.

On the other hand, with no volva in site, could this particular critter be
Amanita parcivolvata trying to put one over on us?

Summary: Amanita, looks close to A. jacksonii

I don’t know the southern Amanitas very well, but this looks like what I’ve heard called Amanita jacksonii.
