Summary: definitely Phlebia incarnata

Beautiful fungus. nice picture. This is about as much of this species as you find at once. Taxonomic note— the genus Merulius is gone since its type species, Merulius tremellosus, has been assumed into Phlebia.

Summary: Phlebia incarnatus (Fr.) Nakasone and Burdsall

Based on the picture and description in Lincoff’s Audubon Field Guide to Mushrooms, this looks like a dead ringer for what he lists as Merulius incarnatus Schwein. Bessette, Bessette & Fischer’s Mushrooms of Northeastern North America lists it under Phlebia incarnatus and lists Merulius incarnatus as a deprecated synonym. A little googling confirms the rename, but I haven’t found any real details.
