Notes: Found lots of these this day. There was one spot, about 20 feet in diameter, with a few dozen caps. They were all just about 1 inch higher than the grass, like small light brown flying saucers floating glently above the grass.

In discussion I finally figured out that these are really a psathyrella. It might be nice to have a note about this in the species notes, what is the difference, and why this genus might be different than that one.

But anyway, playing with the microscope and photography here. Spores mounted in Meltzer’s reagent, at 1000x under oil immersion. The scale here is 1 micron per division. The spore ormamentation is easy to see, and the lense like germ pore is large and protruding in these. Neat, but I need to find a way to get cleaner shots still. The second photo is mounted the same way, but shows some basidia with the spores.
