Observation: Agaricus subrufescens Peck (4277)

When: 2007-10-01
Collection location: Aracaju, Sergipe, Brazil [Click for map]
Who: Nathan Wilson (nathan)
Herbarium specimen available

Notes: Bruised yellow and had the distinct odor of almonds.

Identified based on look and odor. I’m not completely confident of the id, but it seems likely that it is A. brasiliensis which has been synonymized with A. subrufescens.

The recent weather was typical tropical weather, warm and humid. This specimen was found near the base of a coconut palm in a manicured lawn very close to the beach.
