The third and first images combined show that the volva has left a group of at least three small patches on the cap (color not clear because of possible over-exposure) and that the volva is in graying patches distributed over the lower stipe.
The species is very likely an undescribed one. It is not the European A. ceciliae, although there are superficial similarities.
For similar, undescribed taxa check out the Amanita Studies site checklist/picture books for the New Jersey Pine Barrens, etc.; the east Texas and Gulf Coast area; and the Prov. of Newfoundland and Labrador. The last is least likely to have a picture that actually represents the same taxon as is seen in William’s picture.
This taxon falls in a very interesting group that needs lots of work. Well-documented (including photographs) and well-dried collections are welcome if you will please contact me first with some photos.
