Observation: Baeospora myosura (Fries) Singer (4604)

When: 2007-10-27
Collection location: Redwood National Park, Orick, Humbolt Co., California, USA [Click for map]
Who: Douglas Smith (douglas)
No herbarium specimen

Species Lists:
Species around Redwood National Park (38)

Notes: These were very numerous, not only on cones, but very common on a number of the rotting cones. The top five cones are Sitka spruce cones, and the bottom one is a Douglas fir cone.

I thought these were Strobilurus, but no, they are Baeospora. Id’ed by Dr. Desjardin. I am not sure what the difference is… Although these are more overall grey, and the gills and very dense and crowded.
