Observation: Cortinarius camphoratus (4617)

When: 2007-10-27
Collection location: Redwood National Park, Orick, Humbolt Co., California, USA [Click for map]
Who: Douglas Smith (douglas)
No herbarium specimen

Species Lists:
Species around Redwood National Park (38)

Notes: Id’ed by Dr. Desjardin, by the disgusting odor. Really gross, like rotting damp dirty really old socks. But strangly, half the people the smelled these thought they smelled like cheese instead. So, it seems you are in one of two camps, these are either very disgusting, or cheesy smelling corts.
