Observation: Boletus amygdalinus (Thiers) Thiers (4794)

When: 2007-11-04
Collection location: Los Trancos Preserve, Palo Alto, Santa Clara Co., California, USA [Click for map]
Who: Douglas Smith (douglas)
Herbarium specimen available

Species Lists:
Species in Los Trancos Preserve (14)

Notes: I’m calling these B. amygdalinus until a clear difference can be sited to me… and not have it be “more pinkish”, “more orangish”, “slightly smaller/larger” type of differences… And I really don’t want to get into the whole North American/European species type of arguments either. Those seem to not go away until the DNA is sequenced.

So, I’ve saved these, and if someone want to sequence the DNA they can go for it!
