Notes: Found in a decayed wound on a living Red Alder tree in mature second growth mixed forest.
Entire mushroom is white, with gills running down the short lateral stem. Tatters of veil hang on the edge of the flat, incurved cap. No spore print.
Excellent, Pleurotus dryinus fits to a tee. Thanks!

Well this could be a Pleurotus dryophilus, a cousin of the oyster mushroom but I think I have only seen that on old cottonwood… But the veil is not very common for pleuroti around here… growing from alder is unusual… if you want you could dry it and send it to me…
