When: 2004-11-22
Collection location:
Wilder Ridge, Humboldt Co., California, USA [Click for map]
Who:
Nathan Wilson (nathan)
No herbarium specimen
Species Lists:
All Southern Humboldt Observations (7)
Notes: The cap color was nearly identical to that of A. velosa. However, the volva is wrong as is the season. Also there were no clear striations. It was growing under a large shrub that I think was a wax murtle over the spring that we’ve always called the Frog Pond.
After seeing http://mushroomobserver.org/1777 I concluded that A. breckonii is probably the correct name.
