Collection location:

No herbarium specimen
Notes: Taken in my wife’s cousin’s backyard. Did not hazard an id since I don’t know the mushrooms of this area. The soil was very sandy and there was a mix of oak and pine in the area.

Summary: An Amanita of section Lepidella?
In the uppermost photograph, there appear to be flaring lobes of a (sub?)membranous universal veil at several points around the top of the bulb. This suggests the possibility that this specimen belongs either in the Phalloideae or in subsection Limbatulae of section Lepidella. It would be very interesting to know something about microscopic characters.
