Herbarium specimen available
Species Lists:
Mushrooms of CabinCove (40)
Notes: small disk fungus scattered all over log in sheltered spots, distinctive emerald green stain in wood all around them ST: 1-2mm, central to v off-center CAP: 1-10mm, cup- to ear- or fan-shaped, thin, blue-green, paler below, smooth FLESH: same as cap
These are detectable all year long by the stain, of course, but this time of year (late fall/early winter) you can find the fruiting bodies all over by pulling up leaves or loose bark on weakly-covered stained logs. They seem rarely to fruit out in the open.
