Notes: Polypore whitish and bumpy-looking actually pale orangey brown, tiny pores. spores white, non-@, small, maybe 5½x3½ microns, broad eliptical. some of the lumps in the hymenium extend 5 mm. NaOH on surface turns orange, nothing happens with NH3 or FeCl3. context thickness about 3 mm. Pores indistinct in a section, but they appear to be ~ 1 mm or so from what stained orange.
Looks very much like what is shown in Breitenbach, J.; Kränzlin F. Fungi of Switzerland, Mycologia: Luzern, V.2, 1986, #93. On a large decorticated maple log. Beech is mentioned twice in their description, but beech does not grow in Green Co.
It also looks very much like the material from Austria in 19204 under the synonym Cerocorticium confluens. Hooray for using the older “preferred name” by Index fungorum.
