Summary: interesting…
Knew someone would catch my mistake… but didn’t expect Nathan to be watching from Costa Rica!! Thanks for the suggestion, Darvin. I’m about to post another I found yesterday that is much larger and “foliaceus”. This new one is surely Tremella foliacea. Makes me think that this one is this other one, Exidia recisa, maybe. I’ll leave both as T. foliacea until I can find out for sure (next year??) Whatever their IDs, they have flourished around here for the past week; I can find them on practically every oak limb I pick up(!)

Another species to look closely at is Exidia recisa. It has a bumpy surface and is common in the Southeastern US.
