Notes: small gilled shelf on downed rotting hardwood log (fairly large: maybe dogwood, gumbo limbo or pigeon plum?) ST: stubby and lateral CAP: ~30mm wide, fan-shaped, whitish to pale brownish, smooth, dull, funnel-shaped, margin gracefully curled under FLESH: whitish, less than 1mm, fragile GILL: whitish, decurrent, close, clean, 3mm deep SPORE: print creamy brownish—is that white or brown?? (see photo)
I was sure this was an oyster until I saw the spore print. Then I thought Crepidotus applanatus, but the gills conspicuously radiate from a single point in that genus. So I’m back to Pleurotus...
