Notes: large shelf fungus, one set on long-dead ficus root and another on a discarded 2×4, KOH? ST: lateral but v short CAP: 80mm wide, sticks out 60mm, fan-shaped to semi-circ, fairly flat on top with sl depression to attachment and margins somewhat convex, faintly broadly zoned but obscured, very densely black bristly!, hairs twisty and somewhat tufted to 5mm or more long FLESH: brown, 2mm thick, v tough and rigid PORE: smoky brown, smooth to somewhat undulating, 1mm thin ragged ster marg, darker brown inside marg, 4 per mm, to 3mm deep, flesh = surface SPORE: too long dead
There’s hairy, and then there’s this thing! Can’t find anthing resembling it in Demystified (no surprise). I’ve seen it a number of times on various substrates, but never fresh.

Yup, that looks just like it, and the habitat sounds right. Certainly, Bahamas are supposed to have the same climate (and flora).
