Clearly in the A. hygrometricus group due to hygroscopic behavior, but I don’t think it’s possible to be more specific without microscopic details of spores.
Excellent, Darvin has corrected me. I need to be more careful of using the “groups” in Demystified!

Summary: Geastrum
Geastrum also has many species with hygroscopic behavior. G. corollinum looks close but I didn’t find a record of it on wood. Nice photo on a log! Astraeus has only two species and this is not one of them.
