That mutiple synonym feature is quite practical and helpful! that is a great idea! Well as for the genus debate… is their a way to upload pdfs? I have the paper but it is quite a long and complex situation…

First, note that the site supports listing both names as ‘valid’, but as synonyms. This allows the observer to follow their preferences while allow searches to still be meaningful. You (or Doug) can add Naucaria solecina as a valid synonym by going to the Alnicola scolecina page, clicking ‘Change synonyms’, entering the name in the ‘Names’ box, unchecking the ‘Deprecate Synonyms’ checkbox, and clicking ‘Submit Changes’.

If you have more details on the debate, it’s really helpful to put them in the notes (like why is Pierre-Arthur Moureau’s strong argument) on each of the pages about the names. That way people can learn about the debate which is often the most interesting part in cases like these.

Summary: Sticky situation!

Well this has been a debate for about a century now… The european alnicola-naucoria expert Pierre-Arthur Moureau Has chosen to use Alnicola over naucoria and had rather strong arguments… I (for now) am going to use the name Alnicola but I guess this is just personal preference until things gert a little more sorted out!

I think this one (and all of Alnicola?) were moved to the genus Naucoria, making this Naucoria scolecina.

(If you get a chance the lemon shaped spores with tiny little spines are kinda neat.)
