Notes: 9/3/2008 – Getting back to these from scope work on Aug 6th.
Looking under the scope, getting more details here.
The first micro-shot is of the surface hyphae at 400x in Meltzer’s. Here the hyphae is thick, straight, and textured, also there are no clamp con. obs. The surface is also coated in a thick layer of gelatin.
The second micro-shot is of a gill edge at 400x in Meltzer’s. Here the cheilocystidia are displayed, and are long straight, cylindrical with blunt ends.
The third micro-shot is of spores at 1000x in Meltzer’s. The spores are ellipsoid, pointed, and smooth.
These details, all point pretty clearly to C. mollis (and actually var. mollis).
