Notes: large shelf fungus in small cluster at base of large fig (live) CAP: 100-150mm wide, flat, dusty black with ochre sheen but mostly matte, yellow growing margin, concentric ridges but not zoned at all, smooth FLESH: 4-5mm thick, brown, dry, tough, corky PORES: 4-5 per mm, v dark brown, to 8mm deep, smooth, thin walls, striking bright metallic-ochre when viewed at oblique angle SPORE: blackish olive green (can be seen in second photo)
Sorry, I see that “polypores” are actually strewn over multiple orders, I’ll leave it as “fungi” until I have a clue.
