Notes: Microphotos show a clamp, cystidia and the plage on the spore in the middle. The plage has been very difficult to photograph and this is the first decent picture I’ve been able to obtain.

Summary: About the plage… and roughness in general

When I was looking at Galerina I found that for the surface roughness of spores you had to be sure you only used “mature” spores, spores from the surface of the stipe. You could tell a definite difference in the roughness of the spores between the ones on the stipe, and the ones from the gill. Spores from a gill tend to have a large fraction that aren’t that rough mixed in (like most of them).
