Who:
Sam Linse (BearwoodSam)
No herbarium specimen
Notes: Found on fallen red alder in mixed coniferous forest. Thought it was Trametes versicolor when I first saw it, but closer inspection revealed it was quite slimy and had odd gelatinous spikes on the top interior surfaces. One bunch grew on the side of the log and one group grew in a rosette like bunch on the top of the log. I’m baffled.
Went back to this specimen and it was dry and much easier to ID now. Old and tired with hairy top surface of undulating shelves, very small with orangish smooth pore surface.
