“Schizophyllum commune has 24,000 mating types!
That’s about as sexy as it gets.”
And it can grow as a pathogen on the soft tissues of immuno compromised individuals. At least 16 cases of disease in humans have been documented. Some of the infections caused by this mushroom include: abscess of the brain, fungal sinusitis, respiratory mycoses, and a “fungus ball in the lung”.
Now THAT’S as sexy as it gets!!!

Summary: Very sexy schizophllum shots!

Schizophyllum commune has 24,000 mating types! That’s about as sexy as it gets. Plus, very handsome fruiting clusters, and so nice and persistant. An incredibly common and incredibly cool fungus.

This is Schizophyllum commune, you can tell by the “split gills”. That is a big grouping of them, neat!
