Observation: Pluteus admirabilis (6271)

When: 2003-07-01
Collection location: Chestnut Hills, La Crosse County, WI [Search]
Who: Tom Volk (TomVolk)
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Just in case you thought all Plueus species were boring, this lovely yellow one comes along. It’s not very big (1-2 cm caps), but often fruits in abundance. Note the bright yellow color and the pink free gills.

Summary: Admirable indeed!

Your yellow pluteus wins best of show! Altho we do have a couple of pretty multi-colored pluteus here in the West, nothing like your show-stopper.
