The first micro-shot is of the cap surface at 400x in Meltzer’s. The cap is a cutis, with a light thin layer of gelatin, no pileocystidia.
The second micro-shot is of the gill edge in 400x in Meltzer’s. The cheilocystidia are long cylindrical, contorted, in tight clumps. No pleurocystidia were obs., basidia are 4-spored. No reactions obs. to the reagent.
The third micro-shot is of spores from the gill at 1000x in Meltzer’s. The spores are ellipsoid, smooth, very light tan, no germ pore. Many somewhat random shaped. The apr. ave. size is 9 × 4 um.
Not sure what this one is, but posted because of recent discussions over Meottomyces dissimulans/Phaeogalera oedipus. This looks rather similar, in size and stature, veil, brown spore deposits, gill attachment. The difference here is in the spore size, and the cystidia shape and in clumps.
Might be another variable form of this species, or another species in the genus.
