Notes:

Found in a group of about 8, under broad leafed trees in grass,

Cap surface color dark gray brown with scaly fibrils coating a white back ground, center darker brown, smooth and silky looking at least when starting to dry.

when young margin in-curved expanding with age to dome shaped, margin still some what curved inward, not conical, center somewhat flat.
2.5-5cm wide or more, 5mm thick at least at stipe apex, cuticle pealing easily,
flesh white in cap and stipe, stipe base yellow at least when cut open, silky shiny looking in stipe. stipe center hollow, fibrous.

odor distinct, creasoot like. Gills; free from stalk, dusty smoky gray brown at first darkening to dark brown as spores mature, close, some intermediates at margin. Spore print dark brown, Stalk 4-9 cm long, 0.5-1.0 cm thick, enlarging toward base, surface smooth white or with a light brown color, bent, base sometimes enlarged, flesh yellow and quite soft in extreme base. Ring white darkening from spores, membranous separating from cap margin and remaining on stipe, cotton like and double.
