Summary: does rufobrunnea even occur in natural settings???

I though that it was exclusively a wood chip dweller.

I have seen this sort of red staining on quite a few market morels, but frankly, never thought to ID them to species…some of the blondes will also stain red over time.

Summary: I have seen it a couple times-

Before too and never thought to question it… Thought why not see if Darvin or other experts may have some insight into a Hypomyces with Morchella spp. May just end up to be part of this strains growth habit. Thought I’d put it out there either way though…

Summary: Dont think

this is a hypomyces. I have this often on many of my morels. Never thought to question what it was however….
