No herbarium specimen
Notes: I thought this was an unusual substrate for Volvariella gloiocephala, I almost exclusively find them growing from wood chips.
These two aged specimens were growing out of what appeared to be a Pine stump.
Sorry for the low resolution photos, I only had my cell phone (camera) with me.
I also considered Pluteus petasatus, however, the cap seemed more like v. gloiocephala I’ve found, than Pluteus.
Though, the stipe was too deeply rooted into the stump, and I was not able to recover the base in order to check for a volva.
