Notice the extremely hygrophanus caps – the striations of the cap when young – and indented when mature and dry
The stems are brittle with fine silky fibrils
The stems have a larger base only sometimes bulbous
Older specimens are often blue at the base – from being beaten around in the wind
The immature fruits are sporting vibrant colored orange caps – and bright white stems
They do bruise from damage all the way up the stipe ( mostly seen at the base )
Never seen the caps bruise
