Notes: Two really little guys, given to me in the hopes they might be Galerina, but pretty quickly, could see they are not.
The first micro-shot is of the pileipellis in radial section (that curled around after cut and mounteded), at 400x in Meltzer’s. The cap surface here is clearly hymeniform, and not a cutis. So this along makes it a Conocybe instead of a Galerina.
The second micro-shot is of the gill edge at 400x in Meltzer’s. The cystidia here are capitate, with fat rounded bottoms (is it ok to say that?). The capitate cystidia make this a Conocybe and not a Pholiotina (it case you want to split off Pholiotina as a genus). Which matches since the stipe does not have an annulus, and I believe Pholiotinas have a small membranous annulus. Like Conocybe filaris is really a Pholiotina.
Anyway, I was thinking at some point I would try to get these to species, but I’m not sure that is going to happen anytime soon, so I thought I would just pops these up here for now.
