Observation: Cortinarius alboviolaceus (Pers.) Fr. (7289)

When: 2000-12-04
Collection location: Bolinas Ridge, Marin Co., California, USA [Click for map]
Who: Ron Pastorino (Ronpast)
No herbarium specimen

Notes: The silvery-violet cap color and the whitish silky fibrils over the pale violet on the stem seem to indicate this ID. I’m shaky about it because there is little I can find about this species outside of MD and the spores seem the right size and shape but more smooth than “minutely roughened”, whatever that looks like.
