Notes: Is not the spring coccora separate genetically from the fall fruiting calyptroderma? Am I misnaming these lanei? My reference material really doesn’t specify, but I am using lanei for this spring fruiting coccora.

Summary: Different species, muddy nomenclature

At this point it seems pretty clear that they are distinct, but closely related species. The DNA is very close, but different enough. However, it is not clear how to apply the names that exist. The only thing that can be determined without a careful examination of the type material is that something should be called A. calyptroderma. It is not clear if A. lanei is a synonym for A. calyptroderma or the other species. Click on the name link to read more details.
