Observation: Amanita aprica J. Lindgr. & Tulloss (7416)

When: 2008-04-28
Collection location: Oak Bottom Campground, Siskiyou Co., California, USA [Click for map]
Who: John Harlan (harlanx6)
No herbarium specimen

Notes: These Amanitas with the flecks of veil tissue on the cap are so close that if they are tan or brown I call them panthera, and if they are yellow, gemmata.

Proposed Name User Community Vote
Amanita gemmata (Fr.) Bertill. (1866)   harlanx6    (3)   Eye
Recognized by sight
Used references: David Arora
Amanita aprica J. Lindgr. & Tulloss   amanitarita    (3)   Eyes
Recognized by sight: The very bright yellow with a hint of orange cap plus the universal veil which appears to be part of the cap (not easily removed) suggests that this yellow amanita is actually aprica, not gemmata.
